Who We Are

Wolfe Island Fire & Rescue

A fully volunteer fire and rescue department dedicated to the safety and well-being of every resident and visitor on Wolfe Island.

Our Story

Wolfe Island Fire & Rescue has proudly served our island community for over 75 years. We are an all-volunteer department, meaning every call is answered by neighbours who care deeply about the people they protect.

From structure fires and vehicle accidents to shore based rescues and medical emergencies, our crew trains year-round to respond to any situation — no matter the hour.

Your support through donations and community fundraising events directly funds the equipment, training, and resources that keep our volunteers — and our community — safe.

Our Community Role

The Purpose of the Wolfe Island Fire Safety Association

The purposes of the Wolfe Island Fire Safety Association are:

  • To advance public safety by supporting fire prevention, fire safety education, emergency preparedness, and emergency response services for the residents of Wolfe Island and surrounding communities.
  • To relieve conditions associated with emergencies and disasters by assisting in the acquisition, maintenance, and provision of fire, rescue, and medical response equipment and training.
  • To benefit the community by promoting awareness, education, and training related to fire safety, emergency response, and injury prevention.
  • To support volunteer firefighters and emergency responders through funding, equipment, and resources necessary to carry out their public safety duties for the benefit of the community.

Activities

To achieve these purposes, the Association carries out the following activities:

Fire Safety Education

Deliver fire prevention and fire safety education programs to residents, businesses, and community groups. Provide educational materials and public awareness campaigns on smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, evacuation planning, and emergency preparedness.

Support of Emergency Response Services

Raise funds to purchase and maintain firefighting, rescue, and medical response equipment used by volunteer firefighters and emergency responders serving Wolfe Island. Provide funding for safety gear, tools, and supplies necessary for effective emergency response.

Training and Preparedness

Support training initiatives for volunteer firefighters and emergency responders, including first aid, medical response, fire suppression, rescue operations, and safety training. Assist with costs related to certification, continuing education, and specialized emergency response training.

Community Emergency Support

Assist with community response efforts during emergencies, natural disasters, or critical incidents by providing logistical, material, or financial support. Support emergency preparedness initiatives that improve community resilience and readiness.

Fundraising and Community Events

Organize fundraising activities such as golf tournaments, community dinners, and public events to raise funds exclusively for the Association’s charitable purposes. Engage community members and local businesses in supporting fire safety and emergency services through sponsorships and donations.

Use of Funds

Ensure all funds raised are used solely for charitable purposes that benefit the community and enhance public safety, with no private benefit to members or directors.
